In a year in which the phenomenon of disinformation generated alerts all over the world, we at Chequeado put ourselves at the forefront of the battle: we opened new channels and made alliances to fact-check suspicious content, while training and helping our community not to fall into the trap, so that information defeats the lie.
Our monitoring of the debate does not go unnoticed by the political leaders, who responded directly to our work. The Presidency team sent us a report with the sources Mauricio Macri used for the March 1 live collective fact-checking, and Vice President Gabriela Michetti responded to our analysis of campaign promises.
We continue with Chequeado Investigación, co-directed by Hugo Alconada Mon, and published new long-term investigative reports both on the most relevant issues on the agenda -such as the cause "Cuadernos de la corrupción"- and those little covered as the existing impunity in the judicial system of the provinces, as in Tucumán.
We are proud to have won the FOPEA Investigative Journalism Award in the "Digital Media" category for the third consecutive year. The award-winning text was "Who are the landowners in Argentina", by our collaborator Maia Jastreblansky, while two other investigations ("The secret world of bots and trolls... (and how those 'armies' influence politics") and "Lava Jato in Argentina: suspected builders won contracts with overprices of US$ 300 million") were the other two finalists in the same category.
The first Chequeado’s brand manual was released. This came hand in hand with slight changes of the logo that we first published in 2014, and will soon see its fruits along with the redesign of the site.
We launched our first podcastand made higher quality videos and GIFs in-house. In addition, we updated the specials Promesas Chequeadas,Infómetro, El Abridor y lanzamos A qué precio, an observatory to compare prices of health supplies that the Government buys.
If last year we told you that our Chequeabot searched and found phrases with facts in media all over the country now we can tell you that to that we added presidential speeches, transcripts of the debates at the Congress, but, above all, the possibility of helping with live fact-checking events thanks to the ability to translate audio into text quickly. Thus we use artificial intelligence and machine learning, which we open to other developers, to make our work faster without losing quality.

In a context in which funding diversification is even more important, we keep on pursuing this goal in order to be able to grow and work in an autonomous and sustainable way.
